The blu-ray movies look excellent on this player even on a 1366x768 resolution tv. This player outputs a signal of 1080i on a 1366x768 resolution tv. It has an output signal of 1080p on tv's with a resolution of 1920x1080. The tv I have it hooked up to is a four year old phillips 26" LCD tv. The only bad thing I can say about this dvd player, and it may be the same way on all blu-ray and hd-dvd players, is that when watching a full screen or older dvd it doesnt fill the entire screen. Updating the firmware is a breeze. Just connect the player to a modem or a router and enter the setup. They give you step by step instructions to complete the update. The dvd player also upconverts standard definition dvd's to near high definition. Overall this is an excellent next generation dvd player, especially for just over $300. The best looking blu-ray movie I have seen so far is the Aviator
