Review
Best pci video card 08/22/2008 By Anonymous Reviewer from Somewhere Dark and Spooky
Pros: Great performance, considering the aging bus
Cons: driver support
"This is an excellent card if you want to add 2 more monitors to your system. (3 if you use s-video).
For those who complain about performance, they must understand that the pci bus is not capable of handling the bandwidth that most new games require. Pci runs at 133.33 MB/s, while the new standard, pci express 2.0, (16x) runs at 8,000 MB/s. This causes severe bottle necking, limiting performance of any card you put on this bus.
I personally use this card for games (primarily Half Life 2 and Portal) they run at decent frame-rates; Anywhere from 20-55 fps. I use this card because it has some features rare on a pci card, like hdr.
Since I used to use a geforce fx5200 as my primary card, this is a significant improvement in every way.
This card is great for anyone who doesn't know about computer buses, because basically any computer made within the past 15 years has pci. But if you do some research and find a better bus (agp {although it's becoming obsolete} or pci-express) then go with one of those."
